If your teeth are chipping and breaking, you might be grinding your teeth—either consciously or subconsciously while you sleep. This could be a sign of nighttime grinding or TMJ, which causes you to clench your teeth. This can lead to further problems with your teeth and your overall oral health. Sometimes TMJ treatment is required to stop further damage.
Occlusal Adjustment
Another possibility is that your bite needs an adjustment. An occlusal adjustment corrects the alignment of the bite that might be off because of loose, shifting, crowded, or missing teeth. The result is an evenly distributed bite that eliminates irregular pressure on one side of the mouth. Once your bite is adjusted, your teeth will meet properly and your teeth will no longer be subject to enough pressure to chip and break.
